Battlebird (net barrier game)

Writer: Creative PhysEdCreative PhysEd

Other than the typical badminton or volleyball, how else can we engage our learners as we expose them to the game concepts of "setting up an attack", "winning the point", "defending space" and "defending against an attack"?

I have seen how many teachers begin by getting learners to throw and catch a ball or a shuttlecock, but would there be any other way of leading the learners gradually towards a game using a racket/paddle? Extending Tim Hopper's idea of slapping the ball, could we return the shot with a glove like this one? Presenting... BattleBird!

How else can your net barrier games look like, especially at the primary school level?
