Placement of goals in territorial-invasion games

Writer's picture: Creative PhysEdCreative PhysEd

In territorial invasion games, we often place a single goal at each end line, immitating the setup we see in games like waterpolo, football, basketball, netball, etc. But what if we push the goals further inwards, similar to what we see in floorball and ice hockey? How will that change the gameplay and the overall tactics and skills required?

And what if the goal is not facing a single direction? What if you can shoot from literally any direction including the "back"? In what ways will these modifications affect the complexities involved in terms of conceptual learning? In what ways will it be easier? In what ways will it be more complex?
